The Hot Days of August

Okay, so the days have been hot, the sun is out, and I've felt a little shoppy-happy. Which probably doesn't say very much, because I'm painfully cheap, but I have gotten two new "toys" for Malachi. See below.

He's almost 3, but I've never bought him paint before. He's finger painted before, but not the good ol' water colors. Or so I think. He seemed to be a pro at this whole thing. Of course, there were a few casualties:

All a sign of a fun day I think. Here's the next toy:

Bring back memories? The crocodile on the left is of the "grow in water" variety. The frog on the right was Malachi's misinterpretation of the process. I'm excited to see if he catches on that the crocodile is growing. I remember having large animals growing in our bathroom sink growing up -- oh no wait, that was just calving season -- lol (only farmers' daughters will get that joke). Anyway, I'll have to get Malachi's feet in every shot so YOU can see just how big our slimy friend is getting.

Speaking of slimy -- this next tidbit calls for a little sympathy for the trials of older siblings. Luckily, Malachi had no idea what was going on. He was merely greeting his sister with a good "face in the car seat" hug, when the unexpected happened. He looked up at me (on the phone at the moment) afterwards and I noticed he was covered in quite a bit of regurgitated boob juice, if you know what I mean. Poor guy. Only wish I had gotten a clearer picture ... maybe I am a scrapbooker after all :)

Moving on, the heat tuckered everybody out, but Violet held true to her personality and would not fall asleep. Enter the Bjorn. Enter heavenly. Worked like a charm ... I think I'm going to wear it around the house more ...

Meanwhile, Malachi was having fun running rampant. He thought the big, powerful fan was pretty cool.

And now my first time posting a video -- I'll title it -- "What Happens When Toddlers Don't Nap":

Now that you've seen Malachi so "natural", here's a picture of Violet who didn't get a bath today, but enjoyed a cottonless afternoon:

It may have been super duper hot today, but it was a great Saturday. Awaiting tomorrow's adventures ...
